Today, to support the new flip flop brand Gandys - a social enterprise that helps children in developing countries - Sir Richard Branson and many of the Virgin companies are celebrating International Flip Flop day.
Virgin staff around the world have swapped their shoes for Gandys red flip flops to show support for Gandys - the new start-up that aims to open its first children’s home in India next year. Richard Branson and the team on Necker Island have also joined in on the celebrations and have posted photos of themselves on the Virgin blog.
Gandy flip flops in red - previously titled Tokyo Red - have been renamed ‘Necker Red’ today as a thank you to the famous entrepreneur.
‘The idea behind International Flip Flop day is to create a community of people on one specific day who are all showing their support for children in need around the world,’ said Rob Forkan, one of the brothers behind Gandys flip flops.
‘We approached Richard because he’s not your typical suit and tie businessman,’ said Paul ‘He’s well-known for supporting social enterprises so we knew he would be the perfect person to help us make International Flip Flop day go global!’
