Events

There’s nothing the Gandys Team loves better than getting out and about and meeting people who are just as passionate about social enterprise.

2013 has been an incredible year, welcoming thousands of people at the Gandys stand at events across the country and going out to universities and businesses to give talks and encourage social enterprise.

Here are just some of the highlights:

London Fashion Weekend

Rob, Paul and the Gandys team enjoyed getting their brand involved at London Fashion Weekend. Held at Somerset House, it was filled with other well known high street brands, showcasing the best of British fashion. Even though it was still winter and snowing outside, loads of top models and fashionistas joined the Gandys movement after hearing the story and ethos behind our brand and wore their Gandys with pride!

Topman Launch with DJ Benga

To celebrate our launch into Topman Oxford Street, we held a private party with a set from global DJ and Radio 1 host Benga.

Fun fact: Being Croydon boys, Rob and Paul actually went to school with Benga – Rob sat next to him in music and they played footie together. Shortly afterwards, Rob and Paul got pulled out of school, Benga got expelled and years later they had a school reunion at the Gandys party in Topman Oxford St, each since having their own successes. A couple of lucky followers won their own pair of Gandys and an invite to the party to meet the team and the famous DJ.

Drapers Fashion and Footwear Awards

Gandys were delighted to be nominated for 2 awards this year: Growing Brand / Business of the Year and Young Fashion Footwear Brand of the Year. An amazing achievement for their first year of business and the judges commented it was a close run thing to them walking away with the award. Some of the Gandys team went along to the Awards, hosted by the gorgeous Jameela Jamil and caused their own fashion buzz wearing tuxedo jackets with boardies and flip flops. Despite some disapproval, the look was tweeted and snapped all over social media in a second – even Drapers themselves changed their twitter cover to a picture of the Gandys boys.

Gandys Gardens in House of Fraser

This summer Gandys took over the Oxford Street store for one week with the Gandys Garden. Those who bought Gandys over the week could get a free pedicure courtesy of Nails Inc. We also hosted a Gandys Beer Garden in the Bluewater store, where you could get a free beer and an FHM. Result.

The Virgin PR team came down to visit the team and the story of the Necker Red was born...

Festivals

Almost too many to mention, but summer 2013 saw the Gandys van travelling around the country to get involved as only they know how, spreading the love with flip flops and wristbands at the Isle of Wight Festival, Boardmasters, Latitude, Wakestock, Festifeel, Cowes Week Regatta, British Summer Time Festival, V-Festival and Brownstock. Follow our journey on Twitter and Facebook where you can see pics, including which celebrities joined us at the festivals and tweeted their feet!

University tours

2013 saw the Gandys team featuring as a live business case study as part of a competition at Plymouth University.

FLUX is a university initiative to uncover the entrepreneurs of the future and help the students gain invaluable experience working on business strategies for a global brand.

The event was a day long challenge, where teams of students had to come up with ingenious ways to expand the Gandys brand. A mix between The Apprentice and Dragons’ Den, the teams’ strategies were presented and judged by a panel of local and national business experts and entrepreneurs. A truly invaluable experience for the students involved and the Directors at Gandys were impressed by them all.

If you think this sounds good and want Gandys to visit your university, contact us or visit our public speaking page for possibilities of one of the Gandys team to come in and give a talk on business, social enterprise, entrepreneurship and marketing.

Flip Flop Fridays

Flip Flop Fridays are a unique initiative by Gandys where Rob or Paul come to your company to do a presentation about Gandys. Topics include our marketing, PR, social enterprise and entrepreneurship. Flip Flop Fridays have been held at Virgin, Yahoo, Feel Good Drinks, BBH and Facebook. Thank Gandys it’s Friday!
